akimbo collective presents

blubber

what is blubber?

Blubber is the fat layer between the skin and muscle of whales and other cetaceans, from which oil is made. It is also an act of weeping noisily and without restraint. But more importantly blubber is an upcoming jubilee, fiesta and merrymaking mingle which will showcase some local flairs and wares, in all manner of form, like dance, song, music, film, poetry, art and craft…..

When is blubber?

Blubber is saturday september the 8th from 2pm to 8pm

Who is blubber?

Blubber is an initiative of akimbo collective (see www.myspace.com/akimbocollective)

Unbeknownst to its members, akimbo collective began sometime in the spring of 1979. Its founders belinda suzette and constantly kate recently decided that their various inventive projects, revolutionary ideas and creatively documented adventures could conglomerate under the same glorious network umbrella. The better to support themselves and others.

Newly returned to australia after  a 5 year (admittedly interrupted) hiatus abroad, and specifically to piggabeen and coolangatta, kate and belinda thought it would be a fun way to rub shoulders and meet the like minded (in terms of a healthy appetite for art) and so they thunked up blubber.

Why is blubber?

Why not?

We wanna meet people and be entertained.

Where is blubber?

Blubber will be held at piggabeen hall, in the sleepy and beautiful valley of piggabeen, nestled between currumbin and carool. It is a 10 minute drive from west tweed heads, 20 from coolangatta.
